CURRENT VERSIONS: Youngster: As described.
Youngster V: Uprated version with 48.5 kW (65 hp) Volkswagen motorcar engine.

CUSTOMERS: Total of 35 flying by mid-2003.

COSTS: Youngster kit US$6,250 less engine; Youngster V US$6,550 less engine.

DESIGN FEATURES: Open cockpit, strut-braced biplane with detachable cockpit transparency for winter operations. Constant-chord wings of geodetic construction. Wire-braced low-mounted tailplane. Stainless steel control wires. Additional central strut between nose and upper wing forward of cockpit. Aerofoil type 2315. Quoted build time 400 hours.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual.

STRUCTURE: Wood and fabric.

LANDING GEAR: Tailwheel type; fixed. Tyres 8.00-6. Bungee cord shock absorption.

POWER PLANT: One 37.3 kW (50 hp) Great Plains four-cylinder engine; Rotax engines up to 47.8 kW (64.1 hp) are optional. Fuel capacity 30.3 litres (8.0 US gallons; 6.7 Imp gallons).
