Since 1927 the design bureau has developed over 200 types of aircraft, including more than 100 production types of aircraft, and built 70,000 aircraft. In 2003 Yakovlev offers the Yak-42D passenger jet (120- and 90-seaters and VIP variants); the two-seat Yak-54 aerobatics/training aircraft (deliveries have already started to customers in Russia, the US, Australia and Italy; there are orders from France and the Russian Air Force), the Yak-18T training/passenger/patrol four-seater (sold in Russia and exported), the Pchela-1 remotely piloted reconnaissance vehicle manufactured for the Russian Defence Ministry. Under a contract with the Russian Defence Ministry the design bureau is developing the UTK-Yak-130 training complex comprising the Yak-130 combat trainer (the winner of the Russian Air Force tender; the aircraft has entered production at the Sokol aircraft plant), computer classrooms and simulators. The Yak-52M upgrade and new-generation Yak-152 trainers are being developed, under the Air Force contract, for basic training and qualification. Yakovlev is a partner in the programmes to create a fifth-generation fighter, regional passenger jet (RRJ) and short-medium-haul aircraft (MS-21). The design bureau also maintains airworthiness and extends service life of Yak-40, Yak-42, Yak-18T, Yak-52, Yak-55 and Yak-55M aircraft.
