CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF AVIATION MOTORS

The Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after P.I. Baranov was founded in 1930 and is the only research enterprise in Russia in the field of integral scientific study and development of aircraft engines –from basic exploration of physical processes to joint work with design bureaux to create, upgrade and attain certification of new generation engines.
The Institute possesses Europe's largest, unique experimental facilities for ground and altitude engine testing.
Scientific proceedings of the Institute's employees underlay the creative ground of practically all domestic aviation engines, and the test base provided for their upgrading and certification.
As the State Research Center of the Russian Federation, CIAM performs functions on building up technical outlays of future engines and scientific and technological basis on development of new "critical" technologies.
