TYPE: Two-seat lightplane.

PROGRAMME: Designed by Taifun Experimental Design Bureau as DMZ-2; prototype (FLARF-01325) displayed at Moscow Air Show '95 and '97 with 59.6 kW (79.9 hp) Rotax 912 engine; promoted in China, 1996. By 1999, when definitive prototype FLARF-01268 shown at Moscow, detail changes included increased wheel track; repositioning of landing gear leg to below fuselage and of wing bracing strut to further forward; and Hirth engine, with additional fuel.

CUSTOMERS: Total 20 delivered by late 2001. Production of 12 planned for 2002, including four to United Arab Emirates and one each to Bulgaria and Greece; others to Saratov and Orenburg regional governments of Russia in agricultural spraying configuration. By early 2003, no confirmation that these deliveries had taken place.

COSTS: US$32,000 (2002).

DESIGN FEATURES: As Dubna-1, suitable for passenger, freight and mail transport, crop-spraying, forest surveillance, oil/gas pipeline and power line patrol, coastal fishery survey, aerial photography, ab initio pilot training and special missions.

FLYING CONTROLS: Conventional and manual. Flight-adjustable tab on elevator; ground-adjustable tabs on starboard aileron and rudder.

STRUCTURE: As Dubna-1.

LANDING GEAR: Non-retractable tricycle type; single wheel on each unit; arched metal leafspring mainwheel legs; trailing-link nosewheel leg. Tyres size 400x150 mm on mainwheels, 310x135 mm on nosewheel. Floats and skis optional.

POWER PLANT: One 89.5 kW (120 hp) Hirth F30/4C flat-four driving two-blade pusher propeller. Fuel tank behind cabin, capacity 80 litres (21.1 US gallons; 17.6 Imp gallons).

ACCOMMODATION: Two seats side by side, with dual controls, in fully enclosed, extensively glazed cabin; forward-hinged window/door on each side; space for baggage/freight in compartment behind cabin.
